Wouldn’t it be wonderful to get a new dynamic modern recording of the Chairman? I love this score and to only have the LP and the LP used as a CD does not allow this magnificent score to be enjoyed the way it should. Such a shame the LP master is lost and the full score is not available in stereo from the studio. So a new recording would be something special courtesy of the Intrada team that have brought us a series of stunning re-recordings over the years.

What a great series Picard season 3 turned out to be. The production was on the scale of a blockbuster movie with every episode delivering an exciting adventure. The incredible attention to detail and the homage paid to the Next Generation characters and history was truly joyous. Bringing back Jerry Goldsmith’s Star Trek themes for TMP, The Klingons and of course First Contact was just wonderful to hear and the arrangements of his music into the episode scores was done with so much love. Wonderful! I will miss this amazing series.

The Austin Symphony Orchestra have a Jerry Goldsmith concert scheduled for June 2024. Some details in their programme of concerts here.

I must admit I don’t know how difficult it is to put on these concerts. I regularly get emails from orchestras asking about how to secure rights and who to contact to put on a concert of Jerry Goldsmith’s music. I thought it would be straightforward but clearly isn’t. Which is a huge shame. I would love to see more concerts of his music, especially back in the UK with the London Symphony Orchestra again.
