City Hall - Deluxe Edition from Varese!

Another Goldsmith from Varese! Intrigued by the film versions and alternates. I didn’t play this one much at the time of release. The Gershwin NY link was fun and the odd highlight was enjoyable but it did fizzle out. The film lacked the urgency and drama, even Pacino’s over the top pontificating didn’t really work. But we come back to the music and playing this score recently you appreciate it a lot more. So I look forward to this one to reevaluate. Thank you Varese.

I love the soundtrack that Jerry composed for the film with that emotional theme and majestic percussion. I buy it without thinking. The film did not succeed and was forgotten. One of those movies that was only saved by Jerry's music.

I received the city hall cd from varesse sarabande but in poor condition, the audio is bad and stops in the player. Watch out for your copy! Varesse sends me another replacement but they have had problems in the production run and have withdrawn them all to produce them again with the audio fixed.

Yes, I heard this. Shame they have had issues again but great they are dealing with it. I had my copy from Intrada arrive yesterday. Initial burn had no issues. Need to play it on a few players but promising so far.

Today I received the second new cd city hall that varesesarabande sends me and it is exactly the same bad condition as the previous cd they sent me, the audio sounds bad. For the second time I have the cd in bad condition. I have contacted varesse again since the cd I received belongs to the print run that was defective. Let's see how it ends but I think they are already solving it

You will get a fixed disc in September. So hold tight. It will be fixed. Saying that my disc does play ok on my various players with the problem. Strange.
