The Music Of Jerry Goldsmith

A very average boot disc with a collection of primarily Goldsmith tracks that are unavailable commercially. Recording quality is generally pretty good as most of it has been sourced from a DVD etc. A handful of tracks appear from something titled Brotherhood Of The Gun, but this is more than likely to be son Joel's music to Hollister, for which Jerry wrote the theme for.

The disc remains one of those annoying releases that does have some sort after music from the robust Universal logo and the older Carolco, though the equally impressive Cincergi logo is not here. We also get a good sounding recording of the composer's fanfare for Oscar as well as the popular Judge Dredd trailer, which again sounds fine. Other than that there are end credit tracks sourced from a DVD and two pieces recorded from a Goldsmith concert live. Again these don't sound too bad.

An odd collection with sparse packaging that has some gems but it would be so much nicer if some more thought had been put into it and this kind of compilation had been official.
