More Goldsmith At Fox From La-La Land Records
La-La
Land Records announce a further volume of Goldsmith scores written for 20th
Century Fox films and previously released by Varese, FSM and La-La Land at
various points, but with the odd extras and sometimes sonic improvements. This
volume features the obscure drama Ace Eli And Rodger Of The Skies - a mid
west America period drama set around the world of bi-plane stunt flying and the
uneven relationship between father and son. This
release features the complete score in mono, additional re-scored tracks by
Alexander Courage, along with the
previously released stereo presentation tracks. Additionally tracks that were
damaged have been restored courtesy of Chris Malone. This is now the definitive
presentation of this rare score and sounds superior to the original FSM. The second disc features Tora! Tora!
Tora! - The superb docu drama about the infamous Pearl Harbour attack.
Source and content is the same as previous release but is an improvement over
the FSM. Goldsmith's jarring and
uncompromising short score features a powerful theme and perfectly timed musical
punctuation.

The Russia House Expanded CD Reissue
Quartet
Records announces a reissue of their expanded presentation of the 1990 spy drama
The Russia House. One of Jerry Goldsmith's most acclaimed scores that
features one of his finest themes. The score mixes low key suspense with drama
and intimate love story. Although the original MCA album was quite substantial
it was still missing a number of shorter cues. This presentation closes the book
on this beautiful score. If you missed it order from
Quartet Records now.
Extreme Prejudice - Complete score 2 CD From Intrada!
Intrada
Records announce a new presentation of the 1987 Jerry Goldsmith score to the
Walter Hill modern day western Extreme Prejudice. The original album was
one of the label's first ever releases! It was later issued in an expanded form
by La-La Land Records.
Goldsmith provided an orchestral score, but heavily infused by his love of
synthesizers to give it a then modern feel. The score features a series of
exciting and memorable music from the composer during a period in his career
where he was working to integrate synthesizers in a more refined way. Highlights
include the Main Titles, The lengthy orchestral version of The Plan,
a melancholy love theme and south of the border End Credits.
The new re-mastered
set features the complete score for the first time, with a couple of shorter
cues now present. The re-scored harsher electronic cues round out disc one with
the album presentation on disc two.

Star Trek The Motion Picture Coming to 4K, Improved Blu-ray and Director's
Cut News!
The first four Star
Trek movies will come to a 4K disc set in September. Apart from Star Trek II,
these are all the theatrical cuts. Star Trek The Motion Picture will
feature the score isolated in Dolby 2.0 on this set. These will also be released
as improved HD movies on Blu-ray, which uses the 4K master.
Late in 2021, possibly early 2022 the director's cut of Star Trek The Motion
Picture will be shown on Paramount +, the studio's own streaming service. No
news on disc release but it should happen at some point.
The Public Eye - The Unused Score!
Incredible!
Intrada Records announce the release of the almost mythical lost Jerry Goldsmith
score to the 1992 period crime drama The Public Eye! The film centres around a photographer, played by
Joe Pesci, who mostly photographs dead bodies, often recently murdered in gangster hits or
other disturbing crimes.
Goldsmith provided a low key jazz infused score featuring double bass and a
theme that later appeared in the Vanishing but was originally written for
the earlier unused
score to the boxing drama Gladiator.
The London recording at Whitfield Street was assumed lost but Mike Ross Trevor remembered sending
Goldsmith a DAT tape of the sessions. Enquiries were made with Carol Goldsmith,
who discovered the tape at home. Thankfully the score was successfully licensed
with Universal and now Intrada present this ultra rare and intriguing Goldsmith
score.

Cabo Blanco From La-La Land Records
La-La
Land Records announce a new CD re-mastered in hi-resolution of Jerry Goldsmith's
1980 score to the island adventure Cabo Blanco. The film featured an
exotic and tuneful main theme, one of the composer's most likeable openings,
with a powerful performance by the National Philharmonic Orchestra showcasing
the excellent action, suspense and drama of the score. Although a very minor
film for director J Lee Thompson and star Charles Bronson the short score
remains one of Jerry Goldsmith's most enjoyable works.
This new release
features a very slightly expanded main score program along with all the source
music, some missing from the earlier Prometheus versions, along with an
instrumental version of the song Heaven Knows by Carol Heather Goldsmith and a
Rumba source piece by Jerry Goldsmith. The set is completed by a detailed look
at the film's production history by Jeff Bond.

Shamus - Soundtrack Release Premiere From Intrada!
Intrada
Records announce another premiere Goldsmith soundtrack release! This time the
1973 Burt Reynolds private eye thriller Shamus! Thought lost to the ages
when labels have looked for in the past but finally it has been discovered in
all its glory. Goldsmith's short score offers a hugely likable easy-going period
theme as well as bursts of orchestral Goldsmith action and inventive dissonant
thrills. An absolute must for Goldsmith fans, especially those who love that 70s
period of scoring.

La-La
Land Records announce a third volume of Goldsmith scores originally released by
20th Century Fox. This 2 CD set includes an expanded version of the Stripper,

score ever - S*P*Y*S is now fully expanded to over 30 minutes compared to
half the running time for the original Varese Fox Box release. And the set is
completed by the premiere release of Goldsmith's extra cue written for the
western Flaming Star, his first movie work for 20th Century Fox! The
sources are a mix of stereo and mono.

Face Of A Fugitive CD From Intrada Records!
Incredible!
One of Jerry Goldsmith's earliest works comes to CD! His second feature,
following on from Black Patch. Assumed lost to the ages, with the only
hope of ever hearing it via a new recording. But this is the original soundtrack
from Face Of A Fugitive from 1959! Quite remarkable that it still exists
in the Columbia vaults. Well done Intrada and all those involved at Columbia
Pictures in seeking out and releasing this rare Goldsmith treasure.
The scoring style was partly of the period and style of western scores that was
to be expected. But Goldsmith's then new style comes through and his modern
sensibilities give the music the edge that only Goldsmith could bring. A
fascinating treasure for Goldsmith fans to own. Wow!
