The Reincarnation Of Peter Proud CD!
Intrada
announce the premiere soundtrack release of Jerry Goldsmith’s very rare 1975
score to The Reincarnation of Peter Proud! The supernatural thriller was
admittedly a minor assignment for the composer at the time and no official
soundtrack was issued. But the score has quite a following amongst his die hard
fans who have always hoped it might be released one day. The music features one
of the composer’s sweetest love themes as well as unsettling synth work for the
eerie flashbacks to a past life and murder. For the most part the drama centres
on discovering the main character’s past life and encountering a new love along
the way before the inevitable finale raps up the mystery in a disturbing murder.
The original elements appear to be lost and a complicated rights issue also did
not help this rare Goldsmith title from remaining unreleased for so long. But
the incredible Intrada Records have pulled off another miracle for Goldsmith
fans. Discovering part of the soundtrack in stereo and the rest in good clean
mono and managing to agree a license.
Another previously unreleased Goldsmith title finally makes it to an official CD
release. Order today from

Intrada Kickstarter - Vote Goldsmith!
As reported Intrada
have initiated a Kickstarter campaign to re-record a series of older film scores
using the crowd funding platform. The first release will be Dimitri Tiomkin's
Dial M For Murder - which managed to just reach its funding goal in
September. Intrada are already canvassing fans with what score or scores to work
on next. For Goldsmith fans they list both Black Patch and Face Of A
Fugitive! So if you haven't done so already head over to Intrada's
Soundtrack Forum and vote Goldsmith! You will need to
register for a forum account to vote but the process is quite simple.

Star Trek Nemesis Vinyl Release
Varese
Sarabande announce 2 LP set on striking 180 gram green vinyl of Jerry
Goldsmith's last Star Trek soundtrack - Nemesis. Note although expanded
it is not the complete presentation as per the deluxe edition CD release set the
label issued as part of its CD Club. Limited to just 750 copies. Oder from
Varese Sarabande.
The Lonely Guy CD From Intrada!
Intrada
announce the complete score presentation of Jerry Goldsmith’s score to the 1984
Steve Martin comedy The Lonely Guy. The original MCA LP featured only two
cuts from Goldsmith’s relatively short score, plus a song featuring Goldsmith’s
theme and that album never got re-issued on the CD format. So although a minor
work in the composer’s canon it remains an exciting CD premiere of the complete
soundtrack, album songs and a plethora of alternates. It is in fact the last of
the Goldsmith LP soundtracks to come to CD! The music is a light pop themed
score for orchestra and electronics featuring a warm main theme.

Intrada Kickstarter Campaign!
Intrada has announced a kickstarter
campaign to fund an ambitious project of older film score reconstructions and
re-recordings over the coming years. It is down to fans to support the project
from the very beginning with a cash donation. The level of donation will garner
rewards from a copy of the CD to project souvenirs, associate credit on the CD
and visiting the recording sessions. The recordings will be made in Bratislava
with Slovak National Symphony Orchestra under the baton of William Stromberg.
Both orchestra and conductor should be well known to film music fans and have a
very high pedigree when it comes to recording film music. The initial recording
planned is the Dimitri Tiomkin score to the Hitchcock classic Dial M For
Murder.
However, Goldsmith fans should be very excited to hear that Intrada have two
early Goldsmith scores planned for a future campaign – Black Patch and
Face Of A Fugitive! I urge all fans to support this incredible undertaking
and support Intrada in bringing fans many scores that will never see the light
of day in their original form and of course would not sound particularly very
good either due to the age of any recording, if it had survived.

The Mummy - 2 CD Set From Intrada!
Jerry
Goldsmith's last great action and adventure score is released by Intrada in
expanded form over two CDs! Goldsmith's mammoth work is a joy from beginning to
end; from his powerful horn lead main theme, by way of a gorgeous love theme,
music for the exotic locale, an ominous Mummy theme - supported by powerful
choir and of course a mass of action and suspense music with Goldsmith's
customary rhythmic intensity.
The original album featured the majority of the score's highlights and played
extremely well. But fans spotted a mass of extra music and an isolated score
track on the original DVD playing on the language menu gave fans a taste of the
full score. But now we have the score sounding the way it should in a jaw
dropping new remix and re-master from the original digital recordings. The
difference is night and day and finally we get to hear Jerry Goldsmith's
incredible score in all its glory.

The Reincarnation Of Peter Proud Blu-ray & DVD
First
time on Blu-ray and DVD for this relatively obscure supernatural drama from
1975. One of those Jerry Goldsmith scores that still has not made it to album!
So this is a good way of experiencing the composer’s mix of unsettling
electronic music and haunting orchestral scoring; after all the movie is part
love story, part supernatural mystery as Michael Sarrazin starts to believe he
is a reincarnated victim of a brutal murder. Kino Lorber’s disc features a new
HD master for viewers who have probably only seen this on grainy VHS or TV.
Sadly no isolated score but extras include a Commentary Track, Trailers,
TV/Radio Spots, Galleries plus an alternate edit of the bathtub scene from Spain
with comparison to US cut.

per the original FSM release. As a bonus you get the Rio Conchos original
soundtrack, which is the same master as the Kritzerland from 2014.
The set sports new
and improved artwork over both the original FSM and Kritzerland CDs and no doubt
a booklet of notes. Due for release June 19th.

Baby Secret Of The Lost Legend - Remastered
Intrada
Records announce a remastered edition of Baby Secret Of The Lost Legend.
The previous release sold out relatively quickly with many Goldsmith fans
missing out on some of Jerry Goldsmith's powerhouse action and adventure
scoring. It was sourced from two track mixes, dubbed down to analogue for
Goldsmith, who later transferred it to DAT for his personal collection. A copy
of this was then used for the original Intrada release. This process caused
pitch anomalies in the end credit. This new release comes directly from the
original elements in the Disney vaults.
Along with new artwork (to match the recent Blu-ray release) this version
features some alternate cue titles and some have been separated to create new
ones. This version's other bonus is some fun extras in the form of period source
pop from Goldsmith's son Joel and two percussion tracks heard briefly in the
film.

Rambo III - Remastered From Intrada
Intrada
announce their third incarnation of the full score presentation to Jerry
Goldsmith’s Rambo III. This new version is not the originally planned two
CD set that would have included a slightly different but shorter version of
‘Another Time’ and the shorter film edit of ‘Preparations’, with possibly the
percussion overlay of this cue a further bonus. But for this to happen the 2nd
CD would have needed padding out and that was probably going to be the Scott
Bros song and score album. Unfortunately this did not happen but in the scheme
of things it is not really a deal breaker. What we get is the score re-mastered
from the original first generation three track masters for the first time, plus
improved art and booklet. And some of the latter cues have been either split or
combined to match the film soundtrack order. In theory this closes the book on
this score for Intrada and the Goldsmith scored Rambo trilogy as they
have all the scores on their label now.
Back in 1989 after the disappointment of the song and score album from Scotti
Bros it was quite incredible to get the news Intrada were releasing the complete
score. I remember the news broke via the Goldsmith Society via a green flyer,
included in their latest magazine, and it all happened around the magical period
when Goldsmith was in London for two concerts and the convention. Goldsmith’s
Rambo III score was a major departure from the first two scores and featured
new themes for the Afghan locale and its people. The Rambo theme got a
beautiful and moving adaption in ‘Another Time’ and Goldsmith’s action had a
much harder edge with electronics providing extra grit. Orchestra still powered
through and Goldsmith delivered some exciting set pieces with ‘The Game’,
‘Flaming Village’, ‘Night Fight’ and ‘Final Battle’. And the score closed with
another unused end title - the best of the three; with Goldsmith bidding
farewell to Rambo as he drives off with his only true friend Col
Trautman.
